Power
Vinyasa with the intensity turned up. Continuous, demanding, often heated.
Typically dynamic · challenging
Flow built for effort: longer sequences, stronger holds, less time between postures. Many studios run it hot, which raises the difficulty again.
It came out of Ashtanga and kept the athleticism while dropping the fixed sequence, so the teacher can build whatever they like.
What to expect
- A fast start with little easing in
- Long standing holds
- Core and arm-balance work mid-class
- Sweating properly, heated or not
Level
Not a first class — it assumes you know the shapes well enough to be corrected mid-flow.
All levels welcome. Every class here is open to every body. Teachers offer options throughout, resting whenever you want to is always fine, and no studio expects you to know the poses on your first visit. Tell the teacher it is your first time — they would rather know.
Who it suits
- Wanting yoga to be the hard session
- Anyone left restless by gentler classes
- A solid vinyasa base, ready for more
What it gives you
- Real strength and cardiovascular work
- Effort sustained long enough to hold your attention
- The clearest physical progress here
Before you go
Towel, mat towel and water. Eat ninety minutes before. Taking child’s pose partway through a first one is normal.
On heat — Often heated, and a hot power class is the most demanding thing on most schedules. A full step harder than the cool version.
