Prenatal & Baby

Practice adapted for pregnancy and after, often with the baby in the room.

Typically slow · gentle

No deep twists, nothing compressing the belly, and more attention to hips, lower back and breathing. Teachers running these have specific training for it.

Postnatal and “baby and me” classes are the other half: babies come, interruptions are expected, and nobody minds if you spend half of it feeding.

What to expect

  • Modifications by trimester, offered before you ask
  • Side-lying rather than flat on your back later on
  • Real time given to breathing
  • In baby classes: noise, and no pressure to finish

Level

Built for complete beginners, and the safest way into yoga while pregnant.

All levels welcome. Every class here is open to every body. Teachers offer options throughout, resting whenever you want to is always fine, and no studio expects you to know the poses on your first visit. Tell the teacher it is your first time — they would rather know.

Tell the teacher how far along you are. If your pregnancy is high-risk or you’ve been told to limit activity, check with your midwife or doctor first. Heated rooms are generally not recommended in pregnancy.

Who it suits

  • Anyone pregnant, at any stage
  • New parents without childcare
  • Wanting a room where a crying baby is expected

What it gives you

  • Movement scaled to a body changing weekly
  • Breathing practice that applies to labour
  • A room of people at the same stage

Before you go

Eat beforehand and bring water. For baby classes, bring whatever your baby needs.
