Sound Bath

You lie under a blanket while someone plays bowls and gongs. No postures at all.

Typically still · gentle

A listening practice. You get comfortable on your back and stay there while a facilitator plays bowls, chimes and drums. Nothing is asked of you.

What to expect

  • Lying down for nearly all of it
  • Continuous sound rather than silence
  • No instructions to follow
  • Drifting in and out of sleep — that’s fine

Level

The easiest room on the schedule to walk into cold.

All levels welcome. Every class here is open to every body. Teachers offer options throughout, resting whenever you want to is always fine, and no studio expects you to know the poses on your first visit. Tell the teacher it is your first time — they would rather know.

Who it suits

  • Curious about the quiet side of a studio
  • People who find sitting meditation hard
  • The end of a heavy week

What it gives you

  • An hour with no task and no screen
  • Practice at being still while awake
  • A low-commitment way into a studio

Before you go

Wear something warm — you cool down lying still. Mats and blankets are provided.
